Dave started his karate career with Master's Chang and Lee in Bethlehem at Chang's School of Tang Soo Do in 1972. In 1973 He studied with Winninger's Phylum Kung Fu and received his Green Sash. 1980 saw him training with Mike Panushio in Brodheadsville. In 1981 he started his training with Master Nenow and in 1984 received his 1st Dan in American Tae Kwon Do, to be followed by the second Dan at the end of 1986.

During the years of 1983 thru 1985 Dave did extensive teaching of self defense courses to law enforcement and interested people at St Matthews Church in Lehighton. During this same time he assisted Master Nenow in certifying many of the local police and law enforcement officers in the use of Tonfa which has now become the PR 24.

Dave has served two 6-year terms as a State Constable beginning in 1979.

At the November, 2008 awards banquet of the Dynasty, Dave was promoted to the 3rd Dan, and well deserved.
