Simply put meditation is thinking. It may not be the everyday thinking that we are used to. Think of it like this, a dog is the daily thought, meditation is the wolf in the wilderness.

Monk's renown for their meditation were known to do it for years a time. One famous monk was said to sit and meditate for nine years listening to the ants in the walls. While I do not think any of us will go that extreme, meditation has its place in the modern world. Calming of the mind and body is one of the aspects most useful in our everyday life. To calm and clear the mind makes ones' decisions much more accurate and reliable.

How is meditation performed? Well, a dark quiet room or place has its advantages. This is hardly ever feasible at the precise time when needed. Follow this advice, first, find a restful position, this could be sitting , standing, or if need be, lying down. The latter is preferred. Control the breathing, relax and the breath can be slowed. Let the mind try to clear as much as possible. This may mean thinking of other and more pleasant things at this moment in time. Start the relaxation process at the head and concentrate on relaxing each part of the body in turn until you end with the toes. Once relaxed, the mind at ease, concentration will become much more focused in the direction you desire. Whether for breaking techniques, calming after an incapacitating event, or preparing to compete in the bout of your life. Remember, when all seems lost, things will improve. This is a thought to use to rekindle your mind when the world seems darkest. Meditation will improve your life. What you have to remember is, it is not a mystical process. It is concentrated thought, nothing more, nothing less. Deep meditation, as a hypnotist can tell you, lets you explore worlds unknown to the average person. It is even used in some surgery techniques today, and will be used more often as the modern world catches up to some old world traditions. Any one can use meditation, transcendental meditation is often taught to corporate heads as a means of controlling stress and anger, many times found in the hectic work place of today.

As the warriors of old used meditation for calming their mind and body, so can you. Try these techniques, it does not always work the first time. However it will. Be patient, you did not learn your first or succeeding forms overnight. Trial and error will lead you into proper meditation. Once you have achieved it, the problems in life will be much more easy to conquer. Remember, relax, breath, and concentrate. These are the main ingredients of fruitful meditation.
